My name is Sanjog Thakali, and I am an indigenous youth from Gharapjhong-5, Mustang, Nepal. I hold a Master of Science in Environmental Management. I have been actively engaged in conservation through my work with the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), where I gained experience in tackling challenges such as poaching, illegal tree felling, and other threats to biodiversity.
My professional journey includes working in wildlife conservation, climate change adaptation, extension and research programs, conservation economy, and cross-cutting issues related to environmental protection and natural resource management. Alongside this, I am actively involved with the Teen Gaule Thakali Community Group and the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN), advocating for the rights of indigenous peoples and amplifying their voices in conservation.
In 2025, I was honored to be selected as a Fellow of the Inclusive Conservation Initiative Fellowship, which further strengthened my commitment to inclusive, community-led conservation and sustainable development.
