Oscar Joel ROSALES LEMUS

Biography

With 25 years of experience in the field of non-governmental organizations in the Caribbean of Guatemala, where I have developed experiences and lessons learned in the management of protected areas and project management, and an agenda for advocacy and governance in different spaces, including communities, authorities, and the private initiative.

As the director and founder of ASOPROGAL, a methodology of small donations has been created with a team that is a financial mechanism aimed at local grassroots organizations, which has facilitated resources for the execution of different processes that emphasize local production, linked to nature in protected areas.

I have led different cooperation project initiatives that have relied on joint work for community development and nature conservation, through different spatial assessment studies since 2013 that have demonstrated the fragmentation of the mangrove ecosystem; therefore, the priority has been conservation, protection, and restoration in the Caribbean of Guatemala.
