Laure Montchamp holds academic degrees in International and European Relations and in Sustainable Development in Developing and Transitional Economies. She brings to IUCN extensive and complementary experience in project and programme management, focusing on the sustainable management of natural resources and the conservation of terrestrial and marine biodiversity.
Before joining IUCN, Laure served as Project Officer with the French Development Agency (AFD) in Cambodia, overseeing several regional environment and forestry projects across South-East Asia. After gaining donor-side expertise in funding and monitoring project implementation, she moved to the grantee side as Project Coordinator with the French Office for Biodiversity (OFB) in La Réunion. There she managed initiatives on seagrass and sea turtle conservation in the Glorieuses Marine Nature Park (Eparses Islands) and promoted regional cooperation on these issues in the Western Indian Ocean. She later worked as an independent consultant, conducting ex-post evaluations of conservation programmes and supporting fundraising activities.
As Senior Grants Officer – Conservation Action within IUCN’s Species Conservation Action (SCA) Team at Headquarters, Laure now manages global grant-making programmes dedicated to the conservation of threatened species.
