Why attend

Discover how youth are reshaping education to address the root causes of today’s social-ecological crisis. From policy advocacy to cultural transformation, GYBN shares its journey creating trainings, briefs, and initiatives that embed transformative education into the KMGBF: nurturing justice, reciprocity, and harmony with nature.

Session Description

We are living through an unprecedented social-ecological crisis-driven by values, principles, and systems rooted in inequality. Addressing this requires more than technical solutions: it demands a deep transformation of how we learn, what we value, and how we relate to each other and the web of life. Education is a powerful lever for this change. For over 8 years, the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) has championed transformative education as a priority for youth in shaping the future. From co-developing trainings and policy briefs to embedding education in the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF), GYBN has worked across national, international, and cultural spaces to advance an education that nurtures justice, and reciprocity with nature. This session highlights youth-led pathways for reimagining education in times of crisis-showcasing how education can shift culture, mobilize communities, and empower a whole-of-society transformation toward living in harmony with nature.
