Session Description
This session will explore how Latin American and Caribbean nations are collaborating to address plastic pollution through shared strategies, national legislation, and regional partnerships. It will examine the potential impact of the Global Plastics Treaty in the region, how national laws can contribute to it, and showcase how technical and financial support is being used to develop practical, long-term solutions. The session will also cover the economic and environmental costs of plastic leakage into the ocean, the link between biodiversity and plastic pollution, and the opportunities for scaling diverse solutions through greater regional cooperation. Discussions will highlight innovative approaches contributing to the implementation of SDG 14 by reducing marine pollution and promoting sustainable resource use.Organised by
