Hassan ABDALLA

Biography

Dr. Hassan Mohamed Hassan is a Research Specialist at the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, United Arab Emirates University, with more than 20 years of experience in food safety, analytical chemistry, and risk assessment. His research focuses on food authentication, contamination detection, and the development of innovative analytical techniques for ensuring food quality and safety.

Dr. Hassan holds two U.S. patents and has authored over 27 peer-reviewed publications, with an h-index of 13. His contributions include pioneering methods for ultra-trace detection of gelatin sources and advancing halal verification technologies. He has also led projects addressing chemical hazards such as aflatoxins, PAHs, PFAS, acrylamides, and dioxins, as well as food quality markers in dairy, honey, and meat products.

At UAEU, Dr. Hassan established a mycotoxin laboratory in collaboration with industry partners and has received multiple Chancellor’s Innovation Awards in recognition of his research impact. His expertise spans advanced analytical tools such as Q-TOF mass spectrometry, GC-MS, FTIR, and biosensors, and he has played a key role in training and mentoring graduate students in cutting-edge research methodologies.

With a strong record of innovation and collaboration, Dr. Hassan continues to advance multidisciplinary research in food safety, authentication, and predictive risk assessment, aiming to position UAEU as a leader in global food safety innovation.
