Why attend
Join us to explore the Global Biodiversity Framework Fund (GBFF) — its operationalization, resource allocation system, selection criteria, and project cycle. Most importantly, you will be informed about the upcoming 5th selection round (October 27–December 12, 2025). This is a chance to ask any questions.
Session Description
The Global Biodiversity Framework Fund (GBFF) finances country-led and innovative projects to halt and reverse biodiversity loss, supporting the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It aims to conserve 30% of land, sea, and inland waters, restore 30% of degraded ecosystems, and address the $200 billion annual biodiversity funding gap by 2030. Launched in August 2023, the GBFF has received $386 million in pledges from 12 contributors and prioritizes support for Indigenous Peoples, local communities, SIDS, and LDCs. So far, $201.6 million has been programmed across 41 countries. This session will explain how to access GBFF resources, its allocation system, project cycle, and selection criteria. Participants will also learn about the upcoming 5th selection round (October 27–December 12, 2025) and have the chance to engage with GEF staff.Organised by
