Biography
Mr. Joseph Njiru holds a Bsc. Degree in Surveying and mapping and a Msc. in Computer Systems from University of Nairobi and Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT)respectively. He is an accomplished Geospatial Engineer/Land surveyor with more than 6 years work experience in land survey and mapping, land use planning, GIS database development and distribution, spatial data management and analysis and establishment of a Spatial Data Infrastructure. With a strong background in land surveying and geospatial technology, Joseph has an edge in the use of GIS. He is a registered land surveyor with Kigali City Council in Rwanda and a graduate member of the Institute of Survey of Kenya in the Land Surveying Chapter. He has an extensive experience in consultancy field that deals with resource surveying and GIS mapping and analysis.
Joseph is ambitious in the application of cloud computing and big data technologies in GIS webmapping
and distribution of spatial database to meet the ever-growing demand for spatial and non-spatial information. He joins IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) in Eastern and Southern Africa as a GIS officer in the Forest Landscape Restoration.
