Particular qualifications:

My desire to pursue this opportunity is grounded in the belief that my experiences, expertise, and values are aligned with the Union, and I am in a personal position to commit the time and energy required of this critical role. I consider myself a servant leader who elevates and empowers others to make a difference for nature in our region. My extensive network, performance management approach and entrepreneurial spirit would serve Council well at this critical time on our journey. I have repeatedly developed and administered large high functioning teams that drive growth and impact. My work with Federal and Provincial Governments and national and international NGOs, includes building fundraising and executing aspirational strategic plans and growing leaders, both for terrestrial and marine conservation. I have relevant governance experience. I was a board member and Risk Management Chair for The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Canada (a federated national organisation) and served six years (two as chair) on the board of the Canadian National Committee, during which time we greatly expanded membership, especially with young professionals. I have benefited from living and working in multiple communities and cultures this lived experience helps me to empathise with a diversity of perspectives and enhances my creativity. I am a hard working and dedicated conservationists who believes in supportive structures, that enable collaboration and growth.

Experience in fields of concern to IUCN:

I have extensive experience serving the Union and its members in Canada. I am a member of CEC, WCPA and CEESP and have served on the board of the National Committee of Canada. I have repeatedly been asked to convene and facilitate for Canada's conservation priorities, including, • Convening the 2019 Young Champions for Nature at the Montreal Nature Summit, • Member of the Ocean Literacy Delegation IOC Assembly 2019 • Designing and facilitating the 2022 CBD COP15 Mainstreaming Biodiversity with Climate Education dialogue, • Designing and facilitating the 2023 GEF Assembly, Environmental Literacy leaders dialogue • Contributing to the development and leadership of the KMGBF Pavilion Education Day at CBD COP16 2024 • Numerous national IUCN gatherings and events My hope is to champion the Enablers for the Nature 2030 Plan to support closer collaboration between Commissions, National Committees, State Agencies and Secretariat towards our shared vision.
