Session with interpretation
Why attend
The Global Biodiversity Framework, with its target 14, seeks to improve biodiversity mainstreaming. This session will explore challenges and ways to integrate biodiversity preservation in international cooperation actions such as development or humanitarian activities. It will explore this complex topic to provide a thorough analysis and understanding of the issue.
Session Description
Biodiversity conservation and socio-economic development goals can be sought within the same territories by different actors, sometimes with inconsistent approaches. To mainstream biodiversity and ensure a «do no harm» approach for both humans and nature, encouraging synergies is crucial. In this participative session, moderated by Raphael Billé (Tour du Valat): -Nishanie Jayamaha, Co-coordinator of the Secretariat for the Climate and Environment Charter for Humanitarian Organisations, will present its approaches to bridge the gap between humanitarian and environmental issues; -Veronica Ruiz, IUCN Senior Programme Manager – Nature, Climate and People, who co-coordinates the FEBA Working Group on Nature-based Solutions in humanitarian contexts, will present tools and methods; -Cheryl Margoluis, Executive director of the Care-WWF Alliance will introduce the partnership and its operational functioning; -Chloé Orland will showcase how Action Against Hunger France apprehends transversal issues like biodiversity (integrating climate and biodiversity crises into their programs, reducing their environmental footprint and achieving a positive environmental impact).Organised by
