Why attend
A growing field of arts and ecology is an important partner for transformative conservation. TBA21-Academy (Spain/ Italy) has been at the forefront of culture and ocean literacy for a decade. Learn about their work with arts, science and conservation, with Alligator Head Foundation (Jamaica) and Aeon Collective (Saudi Arabia).
Session Description
Transitioning to nature positive societies requires deep cultural and paradigm shifts supporting the coexistence of people and nature. This session explores how arts and culture can support this shift while collaborating with conservation actors. The session will share insights from a decade of TBA21 Academy’s and AEON Collective’s work blending art, science, philosophy, and traditional knowledge to promote marine biodiversity literacy worldwide and conservation practice in action. It will highlight the art-science project Coral Sonic Resonance for reef restoration alongside examples from ridge-reef marine restoration in Jamaica with the Alligator Head Foundation, UN International Trade Centre and The Living Oceans Foundation. The online session follows an interactive format. The first half offers presentations and examples of art and conservation from speakers. The second half provides facilitated discussions through online world-cafe for attendees to explore possibilities in their own conservation contexts, from policy, engagement and research collaborations.Organised by
