Session Description
This podcast showcases an innovative conservation education program that has transformed environmental stewardship on Queensland's Sunshine Coast for over 11 years. Through immersive soundscapes and compelling storytelling, listeners will journey alongside young environmental leaders, Traditional Custodians, and community mentors who are reshaping how children engage with conservation and connect with place.The Sunshine Coast Council's Kids in Action program builds deep partnerships between schools, environmental educators, First Nations People, and community organisations. This 30-minute feature reveals the program's successful three-tier model through a series of case studies presented by the youth leaders. The podcast is produced in collaboration with First Nations partners and the Kids in Action youth leaders with support from internationally renowned sound artist Dr Leah Barclay. The podcast weaves authentic community voices, immersive environmental soundscapes, and practical insights that demonstrate how intergenerational knowledge-sharing, First Nations engagement and participatory project-based learning create lasting environmental impact and meaningful change.
