Why attend

If you are wondering how stories have generationally shaped our outlook in the nature conservation world, this session shows how an inter-generational dialogue, combining classic and digital storytelling, turned maps and memories into powerful tools and bridged generations' dialogue, inspired ownership, and could spark ideas you never expected.

Session Description

This session explores the role of digital storytelling as a tool to enhance ownership, and governance in protected areas. Beginning with insights on the origins, objectives, and lessons learned from developing the digital storytelling exercise, the discussion will travel to practical experiences from the field, where the regional office for West Asia will share their experiences working with youth in protected areas and their engagement in digital storytelling, the challenges faced and ways to overcome them. Another perspective will highlight regional examples from Jordan, including different digital campaigns that fed into climate policy and youth mainstreaming, and reflections on how such initiatives strengthen eligibility for IUCN’s Green List.
