Interested in the future of our oceans? Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Ocean Wise are pleased to be showcasing stories of youth leadership on ocean conservation. In this session, you will learn about four interdisciplinary youth-led ocean conservation projects from around the world, from ocean literacy, science, and communication-based angles.

Session Description

This event will open with remarks from the Government of Canada and Ocean Wise, who will highlight the importance of youth in marine conservation and Canada’s role in supporting youth in marine conservation. Following, four presentations will be made by youth who are active in the ocean space. These presentations will be a mix of in-person and virtual, showcasing their efforts and initiatives on marine conservation. Participants include: - Christina Stavrouli - Scientific Research Efforts on the Conservation of Posidonia Meadows - Judith Camps - Documentary Filmmaking in the Ocean Context - TBC - TBC This event will be moderated by Lasse Gustavsson, President and CEO of Ocean Wise. Opening remarks will also be provided by Angela Stadel, Director of Reconciliation Partnerships at Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
