Why attend

Learn how the Marxan Planning Platform (MaPP) facilitates inclusive, data-driven spatial planning that aligns with global biodiversity goals. This session introduces MaPP’s core features, shows real-world applications, and highlights how accessible digital tools can lower barriers to participation, build planning capacity, and support better conservation decisions.

Session Description

This session introduces the Marxan Planning Platform (MaPP), a user-friendly, cloud-based tool co-developed by The Nature Conservancy and Microsoft to support inclusive, science-based spatial conservation planning. MaPP empowers governments, NGOs, Indigenous Peoples, and local communities to make transparent, data-driven decisions aligned with the Global Biodiversity Framework and 30x30 targets. The presentation will explore why spatial planning is essential for achieving 2030 goals, demonstrate MaPP’s core features, and share real-world examples of its application across scales. A Q&A segment will invite discussion on how decision-support tools like MaPP can help scale conservation actions and build planning capacity across sectors.
