Why attend

Come to this session to learn from case study presentations and join a discussion about practical tools and approaches for implementing rights-based conservation on the ground.

Session Description

Rights-based conservation incorporates but goes further than support for community conservation; it also involves working to reduce power imbalances by engaging directly or indirectly with duty-bearers as well as rights-holders. This session will explore what this means in practice, with examples from the ground. It will then provide a space for discussion of how we can best implement equitable, effective rights-based conservation practice, whether as indigenous and community organisations, protected areas managers, NGO staff, corporate sustainability staff, conservation managers or others.
