David KEITH

Biography

David Keith is Laureate Professor of Botany in the Centre for Ecosystem Science at the University of New South Wales, Australia. He researches species population dynamics and ecosystem dynamics with field-based and modelling studies to inform the conservation of biodiversity, and has published more than 250 peer-reviewed journal articles, books and book chapters. He has worked with IUCN for nearly 30 years. With the Species Survival Commission, he made significant contributions to the review of the Red List of Threatened Species Categories and Criteria that culminated in version 3.1, and contributed to the development of Key Biodiversity Areas Standard and the Green Standard for Species Standard. He has service on the Stadards and Petitions Committee since its inception in 2001. David became active in the Commission on Ecosystem Management since 2006 and led international collaborations that produced the Red List of Ecosystems Categories and Criteria and the Global Ecosystem Typology. He is Theme Lead of the Red List of Ecosystems 2016 -present. He also chairs the Science and Technical Committee for the GEO Global Ecosystem Atlas and is Deputy Chair of the NSW Threatened Species Scientific Committee.
