Adonai HERRERA-MARTINEZ

Biography

Adonai Herrera-Martínez is the EBRD Director, Environment and Sustainability. He manages the team responsible for the Bank’s environmental and social safeguards, the green finance attribution of projects, and the development the biodiversity and blue economy agenda. From 2017 to 2019, Adonai was the President’s adviser. Prior to this he was based in Istanbul, leading the Bank’s sustainability activities in Türkiye. 

Previously, he worked at UNDP in New York and Dakar, and at CERN in Geneva. Adonai received an MBA from INSEAD in 2009 and a PhD from the Cambridge University in 2004, having worked at CERN in Geneva with Professor Carlo Rubbia (Physics 1984 Nobel Laureate) on the topic of Elimination of Nuclear Waste.
