Why attend

This event will unite global leaders across sectors to discuss new actions and collaborations for fast-tracking the 30x30 Ocean Action Plan, launched at the UN Ocean Conference in June 2025. It will focus on exploring the role that the private sector can play in accelerating marine protection progress towards 30x30.

Session Description

This session will spotlight leading companies already taking action – and explore how the private sector can play a role in accelerating and scaling efforts to deliver 30x30, unlocking benefits for nature, people, and economies alike. Protecting ocean health and rebuilding marine life are critical to ensuring the continued benefits the ocean provides to people, economy, and the planet. In December 2022, world leaders agreed to protect and conserve at least 30% of lands, inland water, and marine areas by 2030 –the “30x30” target. With just five years left to go, momentum is building, but urgent action and bold partnerships need to be accelerated. While private sector involvement in marine protection and restoration remains limited and often focused on corporate philanthropy, a growing wave of business interest in ocean health is presenting new opportunities as many recognize that protection and restoration is essential to ensuring their long-term economic resilience.
