Why attend

Participants can expect to learn about the applications of biobanking as a tool for integrated conservation and One Health, with a focus on the Asia context. Participants will also learn more about the relevance of biobanking in broader international and organisational goals.

Session Description

Biobanking will benefit biodiversity conservation and health for multiple countries in Asia. The side event will introduce the IUCN SSC Animal Biobanking for Conservation Specialist Group (ABCSG) and the application of biobanking as a conservation tool and its relevance to One Health, with a focus on Asia. We will have 3–4 talks and a discussion. Our target audience is SSC members from animal specialist groups, ex situ practitioners, and others interested in the topic, particularly those based in Asia.
