Session Description
Small & medium forestry enterprises (SMFE) in Central America are fundamental to the achievement of Sustainable Development goals. They currently require better business environments to be able to survive and thrive in the next decades. These enterprises are constantly challenged to upgrade and satisfy sustainability compliance requirements driven by global trends. The rate at which environmental and societal requirements advance is not in balance with a slower growth and modest economic return of the businesses. Deficient governance and climate conditions can further sharpen the imbalance between the high cost - low benefit of compliance and decrease the capacity for holistic wealth generation for all stakeholders. A stable, positive business environment will nurture innovation and creativity, crucial capacities that need to be strengthened going forward.Organized by
