This session provides an opportunity to exchange insights on OECM-related initiatives taking place worldwide, including in Korea and other Asian countries. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by different nations and the diverse activities undertaken to address them, then how to go forward.

Session Description

This session will explore Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs) as innovative approaches to biodiversity conservation. Through the session, government representatives and IUCN experts will discuss the challenges, opportunities, and practical applications of OECMs. Participants will gain valuable perspectives on real-world case studies, governance structures, and collaborative strategies for protecting biodiversity. Designed to be interactive, this session will facilitate dialogue, promote knowledge exchange, and inspire fresh approaches to integrating OECMs into broader conservation and sustainability efforts.
