Session Description
his session explores the deep interdependence between forests and water resources—how healthy forests regulate water quality and quantity, and how sustainable water management supports forest ecosystems. It spotlights rangers safeguarding rivers, wetlands, and forested watersheds that sustain people, nature, and economies. Through interactive dialogue with field rangers and subject-matter experts, participants will gain practical insights into on-the-ground challenges, proven approaches, and emerging opportunities to strengthen watershed resilience and community well-being. Jointly hosted by the Centre for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), the Universal Ranger Support Alliance (URSA), and the International Ranger Federation (IRF), the event surfaces actionable lessons on governance, monitoring, and financing for integrated forest–water stewardship. Attendees will leave with ideas to support ranger capacity, cross-sector collaboration, and policies that protect critical water sources and forest ecosystems.Organised by
