Session Description
This event, organized by the BRIDGE Project of the Water and Wetlands Programme of the IUCN Regional Office for South America, will bring together government representatives, community and scientific organizations from across South America to highlight transformative approaches to the governance of transboundary river basins. Through TED-style talks, speakers will present real-world experiences on binational cooperation, women’s leadership in water management, and watershed-based conservation of surface water, wetlands, aquifers, and glaciers. The use of tools like MapBiomas for monitoring transboundary watersheds will also be highlighted. The event aims to position the BRIDGE Project as a key platform to promote integrated water resources management through equity, ecological sustainability, and climate resilience, in alignment with the objectives of the IUCN Congress. Attendees will gain practical and strategic insights into strengthening shared water governance, integrating technical knowledge, social inclusion, and transformative leadership to address today’s environmental challenges.Organised by
