Patrick KIMANI

Dr. Patrick Kimani (PhD) is a co-director at Coastal and Marine Resource Development (COMRED- https://comred.or.ke/ ). He serves as the Technical Advisor on Fisheries Governance, Livelihoods and Financial Inclusion at COMRED. He has a deep passion for building communities’ capacity to manage and conserve marine resources, while improving their livelihoods. With more than 20 years experience, he has developed deep interests in community engagement in marine resource management, conservation and development of livelihoods along the fisheries value chain. He is currently working towards improvement of access to finance by coastal communities through development of innovative sustainable financing mechanisms that promote conservation. He is also working on building diversified livelihoods for communities dependent on marine resources. He has a strong belief that improvement of communities’ capacity to govern their resources is the backbone of sustainable management.
