Why attend

This session is an opportunity to learn directly from the IUCN Green List EAGL members from West Asia and globally. It encourages peer-to-peer reflection on shared challenges, effective protected area planning, and responsive solutions that advance protected area performance both regionally and globally.

Session Description

The Expert Assessment Groups for the Green List (EAGLs) carry the IUCN’s Green List revision process. This session brings together EAGL members from the Middle East and West Asia (MEWA) region, alongside an EAGL member from another global region, for an exchange of knowledge, experiences, and best practices. Participants will share lessons learned from applying the IUCN Green List Standard across different contexts, identify common challenges in implementation, and develop together practical solutions and recommendations to improve evaluation processes and collaboration. The session aims to encourage learning and recognize the role these expert groups play in driving conservation excellence.
