Godfrey NYANGARESI

Biography

Godfrey Nyangaresi is the Protection Manager at the Southern Tanzania Elephant Program (STEP), a dedicated conservationist with over 15 years of experience in wildlife protection and human-wildlife conflict (HWC) management. He manages comprehensive protection programs across the Ruaha-Rungwa and Udzungwa-Kilombero-Nyerere ecosystems in Tanzania, integrating ground and aerial patrols, conservation technology, and community engagement. Godfrey has extensive hands-on experience in training rangers, implementing HWC mitigation strategies, and fostering cross-sectoral collaboration to promote coexistence. He holds degrees in Wildlife Management and Community Development & Project Management. His work is driven by a passion for finding practical, scalable solutions that benefit both people and wildlife.
