Biography

Romaniah Hunter - Yawuru Ranger

Romaniah is a descendant of the Yawuru People from in and surrounding Broome. Her cultural knowledge stems largely from her grandmother who maintained a strong traditional connection to Yawuru saltwater Country.  

Romaniah is a young jarndu (woman) working with Nyamba Buru Yawuru as a Yawuru Country Manager (Ranger). She has been working across the Yawuru Indigenous Protected Area with the Yawuru team for two and half years. She has been building knowledge undertaking monitoring and research projects across Yawuru saltwater and inland country and completing training in Conservation and Ecosystem management.   

Romaniah is passionate about working on her Country and working with the Yawuru team. She demonstrates her passion to protect Yawuru land and sea country through her leadership in fire management and salt-water projects.
