KAUSIK BANERJEE

Biography

An alumni of the Presidency College, Kolkata and Gold Medallist from the Forest Research Institute University, Dehradun; Dr. Banerjee was associated with the Wildlife Institute of India for 16 years. He worked as a Scientist at the National Tiger Conservation Authority, Delhi for 3 years. Dr. Banerjee is a carnivore biologist dedicated to conserving these apex predators not only for their intrinsic value but also for the critical roles they play in maintaining ecological balance and the overall health of ecosystems. His work on lions, tigers and leopards involved a combination of science, advocacy, policy, and community engagement to ensure the long-term survival of these magnificent animals. Associated with field research on large carnivores since 2005, his interests include human-wildlife interactions and conservation of big cats and other megafauna in human-dominated landscapes. Dr. Banerjee served as a Board Member, Society for Conservation Biology, Asia Chapter. He has several International and National Publications of papers, book chapters and technical reports and reviewed a number of scientific articles as his capacity of reviewer of journals of International repute.
