Nikolay LARIONOV

Biography

Born and raised in the Nort-Western Russia, next to the polar circle where boreal forests turn into arctic desert (tundra) along the shores of the high latitude Barents Sea.  

I have graduated from the State University as the environmental engineer, later took my post-graduate studies and received my PhD degree in environmental chemistry in Moscow.

After almost 10 years ended as the leading researcher and the Head of the Lab in the academic research institution. Was combining the scientific efforts with academic international collaboration efforts and promoted science networking, mostly within the Barents region.

Moved to non-governmental sector, leaded the team for sustainable development, nature conservation and sustainable forest management in the North-Western Russia. 

Was lecturing at the University throughout my professional journey. 

Joined IUCN ECARO team as the conservation action officer: relocated to Serbia to manage conservation and restoration projects in Balkans, including empowerment of the sustainable development initiatives, stakeholder engagement and dialogue, providing green transition support.
