Biography

Chris Goatley is a lecturer in marine biology at the University of Southampton in the UK and a research associate at the Australian Museum. His research has broadly explored the evolution and functional ecology of coral reef fishes, but over recent years, has specifically focussed on the diversity, distributions and taxonomy of small cryptobenthic fishes, primarily the gobies and blennies. His scientific work includes taxonomic studies of gobiiform fishes, assessments of the community composition of small cryptic fishes on coral reefs, and examinations of the ecological roles of these tiny but fascinating fishes.
