Jean-Marc Sinnassamy

Biography

Jean-Marc Sinnassamy is Senior Environmental Specialist at the GEF Secretariat since November 2007. 

He is co-leading the Critical Forest Biomes Integrated Program with a focus on Africa and Southeastern Asia/Pacific. He has been involved in the development of nearly 200 projects and programs worth more than $1.5 billion related to sustainable land and forest management, mainly in Africa. Jean-Marc is particularly interested in multi-stakeholder approaches related to land-use planning, land degradation, and conservation issues, including the role of traditional authorities. Before joining the GEF, Jean-Marc worked for over a dozen years with various partners -ministries, private foundation, university, consultancy companies- developing expertise in the field of institutional support, land-use planning, site management and monitoring. He holds a master’s degree in environment from the University of Montpellier, France.
