Alexis NIKIZA

Biography

Alexis Nikiza is a biologist by training, with a Master's degree in Sciences and Integrated Environmental Management and several certificates of on-the-job training. Director General of APRN/BEPB and President of the IUCN National Committee in Burundi, has already managed more than 30 projects on biodiversity and protected area management, climate change adaptation/mitigation, development of local communities and indigenous peoples, ecotourism, sustainable fisheries, etc . These projects were financed by a number of donors, including the European Union/IUCN/BIOPAMA, All We Can, UNEP, UNDP, World Bank, IFAD, Fonds Français pour l'Environnement Mondiale, Critical Ecosystem Partnership, GEF, Land is Life, Lush, Pawanka, the French Embassy in Burundi, the US Embassy, and others.
