Session Description
Despite Latin America’s extraordinary tree diversity, knowledge of species’ conservation status has remained incomplete. This session brings together contributors to the Global Tree Assessment from across the Americas to share their experiences and insights from the largest effort ever undertaken to assess tree species for the IUCN Red List. Panellists will present key results, including how assessment data is now shaping conservation policy, planning, and species recovery efforts across the region. Beyond the data, speakers will highlight the added value of capacity building, regional collaboration, and the lasting benefits of participating in a global initiative. Through lightning talks, interactive discussion, and audience Q&A, the session will explore how this collaborative model strengthens local and international conservation impact—one tree species at a time.Organised by
