Marion ADENEY

Biography

Marion Adeney is Director of Amazon and Fire Programs at Conservation X Labs (CXL). A conservation ecologist with over twenty years of experience in tropical forest conservation, she specializes in fire, biodiversity, and landscape ecology, with a focus on the Amazon. At CXL, Marion leads efforts to braid the best of global innovation with local and place-based knowledge to reimagine approaches to conservation and sustainable development. Previously, she led the Brazil portfolio for the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation’s Andes-Amazon Initiative and served as an AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow and Science Advisor at the U.S. Agency for International Development, shaping strategies for Amazon programs in Peru, Brazil, and the region. Marion holds a PhD in Conservation Ecology from Duke University and a Master’s in Conservation Biology from Columbia University. She is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, with proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia.
