Why attend
This session will explore the importance of knowledge management and capacity development in implementing the 2026-2029 IUCN Programme, engaging diverse speakers and perspectives, and inviting audience participation in a "fishbowl" format.
Session Description
This event will explore capacity development and knowledge management as key elements of IUCN’s catalytic role outlined in the new IUCN Programme 2026-2029. More specifically, it will provide an opportunity for participants to learn about how capacity development and knowledge management can serve as catalysts for conservation action in the context of the new IUCN Knowledge Management Strategy and capacity development initiatives and platforms including the IUCN Academy. Themes that will be explored include nature- and biodiversity-related skills development, audience groups and their respective needs, as well as and strategies that ensure IUCN knowledge reaches its intended audience. After brief introductions, the session speakers will enter a “fishbowl”, engaging in dialogue, with the audience observing from the outside of the bowl. Later, audience members will be invited to enter as active participants in the debate. Finally, participants can suggest concrete actions for IUCN in the coming year.Organised by
