DWI ASMONO, Ph.D

Indonesian citizen, 60 years old, domiciled in Jakarta, Indonesia. He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree in Plant Breeding and Genetics from Iowa State University, United States, in 1998, after obtaining Master degree and Bachelor degree from Bogor Agricultural University, in 1992 and 1987, respectively. He has more than 32 years of professional experience in oil palm industry, particularly in the field of research, development, sustainability and seed business, as well as experience in establishing R&D team. He has also deeply involved in sago and rubber business of the company for the last 10 years. He has been serving as the Research and Development Director since 2007 and Board Member of PT Sampoerna Agro Tbk. since 2012. Currently, he also serves as Director of PT Binasawit Makmur, one of the Company’s subsidiaries, related to seed business.

Recently, Dr. Asmono obtained certification from The Institution of Engineer Indonesia (PII) as Executive Professional Engineer (IPU), Head of Research and Development Division of Indonesia Palm Oil Association (GAPKI, since 2023), and executive board in some organization related to oil palm and other crops, such as in Indonesian Society of Agronomy (PERAGI, as Director of PERAGI Institute since 2020), Indonesian Society of Breeding (PERIPI, as co-chairman since 2014), Indonesian Seed Society (MPPI, since 2004), Forum of Indonesia Oil Palm Seed Producers (FKPB-KS, as chairman since 2005), and Indonesian Plant Propagators Association (Asbenindo, since 2016). He is also chairman of scientific board of Indonesia Sago Society (MASSI).

He has published more than 70 national and international publications and has become invited speaker in several international conference.
