Doreen Nasimiyu Simiyu is a seasoned professional with over 15 years of experience in environmental conservation, fisheries governance, and policy advocacy across the South West Indian Ocean region. She currently serves as Communication, Monitoring, and Evaluation Lead at Community Action for Nature Conservation (CANCO), where she oversees knowledge management, program performance, and strategic communications to strengthen evidence-based advocacy. In addition, she is the Regional Coordinator of the South West Indian Ocean Tuna Forum, leading regional advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and program delivery across seven countries. She is passionate about advancing sustainable marine fisheries and blue economy, empowering small-scale fishers and ensuring that coastal communities benefit equitably from marine resources.
