Faria TARUS

Biography

Faria Tarus is a conservation professional with over 10 years of experience in biodiversity and natural resource management. She currently serves as a Programme Officer with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Species Conservation Action (SCA) team, where she manages the Save Our Species (SOS) African Wildlife Initiative (AWI) portfolio across Eastern and Southern Africa. In this role, she supports grant management and coordinates regional engagement with governments, communities, and donors to advance species conservation.

Faria has a background in Dryland & Natural Resource Management, GIS and in Environmental Impact Assessment & Audit. Her expertise spans biodiversity conservation, community-based natural resource management and institutional strengthening.  In addition to her programme role, Faria serves as a Secretariat member of the IUCN Youth Advisory Committee (YAC), where she helps to amplify youth voices
