I was born and raised in Panama City. I was a career civil servant at the Panama Canal Authority, where I initially worked as an automotive mechanic apprentice. I later rose to become the supervisor and manager of the Transportation Unit. I graduated as an Administrative Industrial Engineer.
I am a recreational diver, and since 2005, I have been the President of the Foundation for the Protection of the Sea (PRO-MAR), where I manage relationships with government institutions, the private sector, and civil society. I participate in consultations regarding laws and changes in public policies related to the environmental sector, particularly those concerning coastal marine ecosystems, protected areas, and waste impacting the marine environment.
Currently, I am focused on issues of accountability, open data, corporate governance, budgeting, and citizen participation in the environmental sector.
I am the current President of the Panamanian Committee of the IUCN, a civil society representative to the Association Agreement between the European Union, and an advisor to the Recycling Chamber of Panama.
