Session Description
Rewilding is a transformative conservation strategy restoring self-sustaining ecosystems, enhancing biodiversity, and addressing climate change. It represents a paradigm shift in environmental management, influencing governance, goals, and policy development. The IUCN CEM Guiding Principles of Rewilding, developed through 15+ international workshops with 150+ experts, marks a key step in standardizing global rewilding efforts. This session introduces these guidelines, fostering knowledge exchange and stakeholder engagement in alignment with IUCN’s Nature 2030 Programme. By positioning rewilding as a nature-positive solution, this session explores its role in integrating conservation into sustainable economies, mainstreaming nature-based solutions, and reshaping conservation leadership. It directly supports IUCN’s commitment to transformative change and multi-stakeholder collaboration across all six IUCN commissions.Organised by
