Why attend
Discover how Indigenous Peoples are securing direct access to finance to lead biodiversity and climate solutions on their own terms. Learn from real examples, explore transformative financing models, and join the call for systems that work with and for Indigenous Peoples.
Session Description
What does direct access to finance truly mean in the context of biodiversity and climate action? For Indigenous Peoples, it means leading solutions on own terms: shaping, implementing, and sustaining initiatives that protect lands, waters, and cultures. This session highlights the ways Indigenous communities are already securing and managing funds directly to preserve biodiversity and combat climate change. Speakers will showcase practical examples of Indigenous-led financing models and the transformative impacts they create on the ground. The discussion will also call for financial systems that move beyond inclusion toward genuine partnership: mechanisms designed with and for Indigenous Peoples. By centering Indigenous leadership in financial governance, this session invites participants to reimagine how resources flow, ensuring that Indigenous knowledge, rights, and priorities drive effective, just, and lasting climate and biodiversity outcomes.Organised by
