Session with interpretation
Session Description
This session will spotlight Abu Dhabi’s remarkable journey in protecting marine megafauna—dugongs, cetaceans, and sea turtles—that are vital to healthy marine ecosystems and coastal communities. While many populations face global decline, Abu Dhabi stands out as a success story.Drawing on two decades of aerial, vessel, and underwater monitoring, the discussion will highlight how these populations remain stable, and in some cases, are improving. The conversation will explore the role of marine protected areas, international conventions, multi-stakeholder partnerships, and active community engagement in shaping this conservation success.
This session offers valuable insights into how resilience, collaboration, and innovation can safeguard marine life for generations to come.
