Explanatory memorandum
This motion aims to strengthen local and global efforts to reverse the fortune of some of the most iconic yet threatened species from Arabia to the Sahel and Sahara regions. It recognises the ecological and cultural importance of these species and urges all concerned parties to work together to restore them. Restoring some of the most characteristic fauna of these regions is essential for protecting the overall biodiversity and for maintaining healthy and functional ecosystems, enhancing their ability to supporting life and livelihoods and in mitigating the impact of climate change.
