Particular qualifications:
I contribute to nature conservation through the management of organizations and projects. My career has been a journey through different approaches to making a positive difference in the world, working as environmental lawyer, professor, activist, freelance, volunteer, advisor, executive director, high rank official or deputy director. For the last 20 years, I have worked, as Executive Director and Deputy Director, for the biggest donor for nature conservation in Spain, Fundación Biodiversidad, a public sector foundation which is part of the Spanish government, that collaborates with more than 300 projects per year. I work at the intersection of policy and projects, working in a diverse stakeholders environment. My work is also motivated by the strong connection between nature conservation and the way humans produce, consume, live, connect and relate with nature. I have experience at several international and national boards and juries and governmental consultancy bodies such as the National Parks Network Council or the Spanish Committee of UNESCO Man and Biosphere Programme. I am also part of HB, a global network of women in STEMM that aims at ensuring the sustainability of the planet. My contribution has been recognized by the Cross of the Order of Civil Merit amongst others.
Experience in fields of concern to IUCN:
During many years of interaction with IUCN I have serve in different roles related to Council, Commissions, Regional Offices and Spanish National Committee. I have been a member of IUCN Council since my election in 2021, including being part of the Finance and Audit Committee (FAC), the Congress Preparatory Committee, the Private Sector Taskforce and the Antarctic Taskforce. In addition I am a member of the World Commission on Environmental Law and of the European Policy Advisory Group advising the IUCN European Regional Office on policy matters and collaborate extensively with the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation. I also held the Vice-Presidency of the Spanish Committee and I am still a member of its board as a spokesperson for green economy and employment. I had the opportunity to actively participate in the 2008 World Congress in Barcelona, organizing the activities held in the Spanish Government Pavillion.
