Motion 015

As noted in the preamble, several motions have been passed in previous years with respect to primary forests, including in particular calling for a primary forest policy, which was drafted, approved by Council and is now in effect. However, significantly more needs to be done to focus on primary forests as a priority across the Union, and as a Union working to promote primary forest protections in international policy over the next four years. This needs to be a whole of Union engagement from individual members, to Commissions, to institutional members, to the Secretariat including the Director General. We also feel it is particularly important to focus on this issue at the WCC in 2029 as the international community takes stock of progress towards 2030 conservation objectives.
