Particular qualifications:
I am a Law Professor with 25 years experience in environmental law and indigenous rights, in domestic, comparative and international law. I have extensive board governance experience and have served one term on Council; this would be my second term. In that term I have served on the Council's Finance and Audit Committee, and am the Chair of the Council Taskforce on Antarctica and the Southern Ocean. I have input exensively into Council work, particularly through commenting on the draft 20-year vision, developing the Finance strategy, and drafting the new Draft Strategy for Antarctica and the Southern Ocean. I have made presentations in international fora for IUCN (such as at the French One Planet Polar Summit in Nov 2023*) and participated in Oeania regional activities with enthusuiasm. I have also worked closely with IUCN commissions, particularly for the Antarctic Taskforce work. I have a much better grasp of the workings, breadth and benefits of the whole Union than when I stood for my first term as Oceania regional Councilllor, and I am committed to fostering this so we all work together as a Union and as the voice for nature.
