This session will be relevant for all stakeholders interested in understanding how to shift production practices and reorient sectoral public policies, through biodiversity mainstreaming, drawing on the experience of 15 countries (Benin, Cameroon, Congo, Fiji, Gabon, Guinea, Guyana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Senegal, Tunisia, Uganda, Vietnam).

Following a high-level introduction with Ministry representatives, and a quick definition of what biodiversity mainstreaming is, participants will be organized in 3 groups so as to be able to engage in rich discussions on 3 main questions in a World Café format:
1) How can we reach long-term engagement from the private sector actors to reduce the negative impacts of their production practices on biodiversity?
2) How can we reach multi-stakeholder consensus on the public policies to reform ?
3) How to mobilize all stakeholders, including donors, at landscape level ?

There will be 3 rounds of 10 minutes each, with each participant contributing to each question by moving from on table-question to another.
During “harvest time”, 3 self-designated participants will briefly report on the main points discussed, using the paperboards produced during the group discussions. Finally, CBD National Focal Points from 2 BIODEV2030 countries will highlight some challenges and opportunities they faced about biodiversity mainstreaming.
