Conservation practitioners increasingly recognise the importance of integrating gender but conventional approaches generally address the symptoms rather than the underlying causes of gender inequality, so women remain marginalised within conservation decision-making and benefit sharing. Come and learn how to challenge the status quo to make conservation more equitable and effective.

Fauna & Flora and Kenya Wildlife Conservancies Association are collaborating with each other, and with other actors, to implement and learn from an innovative approach that is supporting men, women and youth in Kenya’s community conservancies to identify, reflect and challenge harmful gender norms and practices, within their households, communities and conservancies. In this session we will share what we have done and the approaches used, the impact we have had at different sites, the challenges we have encountered, and the learning we are generating. The session will start with a 15-minute presentation followed by 25 minutes of interactive discussion with questions and answers and an invitation for participants to share their own ideas and experiences.Organised by
