Por qué asistir

With adoption of IUCN’s Global Ecosystem Typology to frame GBF targets and UN ecosystem accounting standards, join this learning zone to understand its key features, pivotal roles in global policy and explore user resources. Learn to apply the GET to national ecosystem inventories for planning, local management and international reporting.

Descripción de la sesión

The IUCN Global Ecosystem Typology provides a common international language for integrating the many national classifications and maps that describe the world’s ecosystems. The GET facilitates generalisations about sustaining ecosystem functionality and mitigating threats to ecosystems through conservation and restoration action across borders.
The event comprises two parts. The first includes short presentations from scientists, policy makers and ecosystem managers on: the needs and foundations for a globally consistent ecosystem information framework; the role of the GET in international policies and standards; resources, atlas and governance to support GET use and maintenance; applications of the GET in Red List assessments, ecosystem accounts and ecosystem management. The second part includes interactive sessions in breakout groups hosted by IUCN experts, for participants to explore GET tools and share questions and experiences on GET application in their countries and regions. The event concludes with a panel summary of key issues raised.
